Gaspar de Alba is Professor of Chicana/o Studies, Gender Studies, and
English, and was the Chair of the Cesar E. Chavez Department of
Chicana and Chicano Studies from 2007 to 2010. She has published eight books and teaches
courses on Chicana feminism, lesbian literature, bilingual creative
writing, Chicana/o popular culture, and border studies. Her research
interests are Chicana art, border culture, femicide, Sor Juana Ines de
