NOTE: Participating students and faculty need to arrive by 9:00am for photos and procession assembly.
ALL ARE WELCOME! Commencement planning meetings are held every Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the Women's Studies offices in 2524 Hershey Hall.

STUDENTS
Khanum Shaikh, doctoral candidate in Womens Studies, advanced to candidacy on May 5th. The tentative title for Shaikh's dissertation is "Global Networks & the Circulation of Islamic Womanhood: Pakistani Women and the Al-Huda Academy"
Gwen D'Arcangelis presented at the "Global States" Conference held at UCI, May 5-6, on "Biological Threat Construction: Fear, Security and Surveillance in the U.S."

Four Women's Studies Ph.D. students presented at “New Directions in Feminist Scholarship" a Collaborative Graduate Conference in Women’s Studies held at Rutgers University, April 21-22, on a panel entitled Feminist Infiltrations in Science and Medicine:
Gwen D'Arcangelis presented on "Cross-disciplinary Work and New Topics in Women's Studies: Is Biological Security a Women Studies Topic?"
Laura Foster presented on "Decolonizing Patent Law: Invention, Objectivity, and Democracy"
Jennifer Musto and Vange Heiliger presented on Panel Current Debates in Global Feminism "Retracing Social Justice: Envisioning Sustainable Feminist Futures"
A number of Women's Studies Ph.D. students will attend "Locating Women's Studies: Formations of Power and Resistance," the 27th National Women's Studies Association meeting to be held in Oakland, California, June 15-18, 2006.
